In September 2020, Earnest Jackson, Samuel Lockridge, and Kendon McClaine created the idea of 913 Day (following 816 Day). Their vision helped create a day dedicated to celebrating the pride, people, culture, businesses, neighborhoods, and community spirit of Wyandotte County.
 

In 2021 The Toolbox: Small Business Resource Center, in partnership with Sheyvette Dinkens, was proud to honor the original work that made 913 Day possible and to help carry that vision forward. For the past 5+ years, The Toolbox has continued organizing, promoting, and growing 913 Day as a community celebration that uplifts local businesses, entrepreneurs, artists, families, and neighborhoods across Kansas City, Kansas and Wyandotte County.
 

Named after our local area code, 913 Day is a celebration of all things great in Wyandotte County.
 

We encourage community members to visit and support places throughout our community, including the Historic Quindaro Ruins, Downtown KCK, Central Avenue, Turner, Rosedale, Argentine, and many other neighborhoods and local businesses.
 

Many businesses across Wyandotte County will have special sales, events, and offerings throughout the day in celebration of 913 Day.
